The GREENGUARD Certification Program gives assurance that products designed for use in indoor spaces meet strict chemical emissions limits, which contribute to the creation of healthier interiors. Achieving GREENGUARD Certification gives credibility to manufacturers’ sustainability claims, backing them with empirical technical data from an unbiased, third-party organization.
If a product has been GREENGUARD Certified, it has been tested and systematically proven to have low chemical emissions. In other words, it’s guaranteed to provide off only low levels of volatile organic compounds, or VOCs.
GREENGUARD Certification standards have established performance-based standards to describe products and procedures with low chemical and particle emissions for use indoors. The standards are primarily for structure materials, finishes, interior furnishings, furniture, cleaning goods and electronic tools. The standards establish certification procedures including test methods, permissible emission levels, product trial collection and handling, testing type and frequency as well as program application procedures, toxicity limits and acceptance.
